چکیده

Linear response functions are implemented for a vibrational configuration interaction state allowing accurate analytical calculations of pure vibrational contributions to dynamical polarizabilities. Sample calculations are presented for the pure vibrational contributions to the polarizabilities of water and formaldehyde. We discuss the convergence of the results with respect to various details of the vibrational wave function description as well as the potential and property surfaces. We also analyze the frequency dependence of the linear response function and the effect of accounting phenomenologically for the finite lifetime of the excited vibrational states. Finally, we compare the analytical response approach to a sum-over-states approach.

This paper presents an analytical derivation of a multiconfigurational self-consistent-field ~MC-SCF! solution of the time-independent Schrödinger equation for nuclear motion ~i.e. vibrational modes!. This variational MC-SCF method is designed for the mixed quantum/classical molecular dynamics simulation of multiple proton transfer reactions, where the transferring protons are treated quantum m...

Two-dimensional Raman and infrared vibrational spectroscopy for a harmonic oscillator system nonlinearly coupled with a colored noise bath.

Multidimensional vibrational response functions of a harmonic oscillator are reconsidered by assuming nonlinear system-bath couplings. In addition to a standard linear-linear (LL) system-bath interaction, we consider a square-linear (SL) interaction. The LL interaction causes the vibrational energy relaxation, while the SL interaction is mainly responsible for the vibrational phase relaxation. ...

Vibrational structure theory: new vibrational wave function methods for calculation of anharmonic vibrational energies and vibrational contributions to molecular properties.

A number of recently developed theoretical methods for the calculation of vibrational energies and wave functions are reviewed. Methods for constructing the appropriate quantum mechanical Hamilton operator are briefly described before reviewing a particular branch of theoretical methods for solving the nuclear Schrödinger equation. The main focus is on wave function methods using the vibrationa...

Fourier grid Hamiltonian multiconfigurational self-consistent-field: A method to calculate multidimensional hydrogen vibrational wavefunctions

The Fourier Grid Hamiltonian Multiconfigurational Self-Consistent-Field ~FGH-MCSCF! method for calculating vibrational wavefunctions is presented. This method is designed to calculate multidimensional hydrogen nuclear wavefunctions for use in mixed quantum/classical molecular dynamics simulations of hydrogen transfer reactions. The FGH-MCSCF approach combines a MCSCF variational method, which d...
